The seventh nerve. Causes, symptoms and methods of prevention !

Bell's Palsy is a temporary weakness or paralysis of the facial muscles,

It is caused by inflammation, swelling or external pressure of the seventh cranial nerve that controls facial muscles.

This condition causes one side of the face to loosen or stiff, and the patient may have difficulty smiling,

Or closing the eyelid on the affected side, but the symptoms are temporary and heal within several weeks.

Seventh nerve paralysis can occur at any age, but it usually affects people between the ages of 16 and 60.

The seventh nerve also controls some functions of the glands such as the lacrimal and salivary glands.

It is a vital nerve that controls many facial functions.
Injury to this nerve can lead to problems with facial expressions and can be discomforting.

Although some causes may not be preventable, early treatment and good care may help with a full recovery.

Or significantly alleviate the symptoms.

Symptoms of the seventh nerve:
Exposure to problems in the seventh nerve can lead to the appearance of several symptoms, most notably:

Paralysis on one side of the face: It is difficult for a person to move the muscles of his face on the affected side.
Loss of ability to smile or close eyes: A person may notice difficulty smiling or closing the eye normally.
Swelling or relaxation of the facial muscles: It appears as asymmetry of the face.
Pain or sensitivity in the ear or the area behind the ear: Sometimes the injury is accompanied by mild or sharp pain in these areas.
Decreased taste in the anterior third of the tongue: The sufferer may feel a change in the sense of taste.
Increased secretion of tears or salivation: the result of disruption of the functioning of the glands associated with the seventh nerve.

Causes of seventh nerve:
The causes that lead to problems in the seventh nerve vary, most notably:

Bell's Palsy is the most common cause and is thought to occur as a result of an unknown inflammation of the seventh nerve.
Exposure to viruses: such as herpes simplex virus or human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).
Direct injuries: such as accidents or fractures in the head and neck area.
Middle ear infections or viral diseases: can affect the seventh nerve.
High blood pressure or diabetes: It can damage nerves, including the seventh nerve.
The presence of tumors or external pressure on the nerve: such as neuromas.

Seventh nerve treatment:
Treatment of the seventh nerve depends on the cause of the injury and can include:

Antiviral drugs or steroids: in case of paralysis caused by viral infections.
Physical therapy and facial exercises: to help muscles regain their functions.
Pain relievers: in the presence of associated pain.
Surgery: In rare cases, such as pressure from tumors or serious injuries.
Heat or cold therapy: to relieve swelling and irritation.
Prevention of seventh nerve:
There's no specific way to prevent seventh nerve, but certain procedures can reduce the risk:

Attention to public health: such as controlling blood pressure levels, and controlling diabetes.
Stay away from head injuries: Avoid accidents and injuries that may affect the nerves.
Regular exercise: to improve blood circulation and strengthen muscles.
Reduce stress: because stress may negatively affect nerve health.
